Passage:
"If they convince the American people that Beamon himself was morally bankrupt, if they could make him out to be a rouge agent, using the power the government had entrusted to him to look through public key-holes, that might be enough to divert the public's attention." (Mills, pg 26)

Response:
My reaction to this was mixed, as I disapproved greatly with what Beamon had done, but he did it with intentions of finding out the dirty secrets of politicians and what they were trying to cover from the rest of the public. Beamon was suspended from his post, and I also had mixed feeling about this because I did not think that he deserve this, but at the same time he did. In my own opinions, the FBI is supposed to enforce justice, and that is what Beamon was doing.

Analysis:
In this passage, the speaker talks about Beamon, and how he was involved in the FBI taping scandal, in which the FBI tapped the phone lines of many elite politicians. The FBI has suspended Beamon for this, and during this time Beamon is currently out of action. However, Beamon will try to prove that what he was doing was for a reason, and he plans to prove the dark side of the American government.

  1. This sounds really interesting. Your reaction is well fleshed out. However, you need to use a wider variety of strategies (Questions, Connections, Inferences, Predictions, all that good stuff...).
Also, your analysis is more of a summary than an analysis. In this section you should be focusing on the author's style through analyzing specific choices and techniques.
